Brass Bearing for 115mm Shaft ( External 5″ 1/2 inch) –

Brass Bearing for 115mm Shaft (External 5″ 1/2 inch)

Our water-lubricated shaft bearings are meticulously crafted with a metric inner diameter and an imperial outer diameter. These bearings boast a sturdy brass exterior complemented by a rubber inner component that incorporates axial channels. This unique combination of rubber and water serves as an ideal bearing material and lubricant. The inherent elasticity of rubber provides exceptional shock absorption and effectively dampens vibrations.

The advanced design of the Aqualube bearing significantly improves its functionality. In contrast to numerous other bearings available, Aqualube bearings are specifically designed to create a hydrodynamic water wedge between the shaft and the bearing, even at lower shaft speeds. Water is an outstanding lubricant for marine environments due to its plentiful availability, incompressibility, cooling attributes, and low coefficient of friction when interacting with the bearing strip and shaft. Water enters the bearing through longitudinal grooves, generating a thin film that moves radially between the propeller shaft and the bearing face. Once this film, or wedge, is established, the shaft remains insulated from direct contact with the bearing.

The naval brass or metallic bearing features an external brass shell that is precisely machined and polished, facilitating easy installation. A specially formulated nitrile rubber, which is resistant to oil and chemicals, is securely bonded to the shell. For smaller vessels, we provide units with thinner shells that are suitable for struts. Sleeve bearings are generally installed using a light press fit and are secured in place with cone-pointed set screws.
